Dia di Boneiru (Bonairedag), ook bekend als Dia di Himno i Bandera (Dag van de Vlag), wordt jaarlijks op 6 september gevierd op Bonaire. Dia di Boneiru is een officiële feestdag, waarbij wordt stilgestaan bij het ‘ontdekken’ van het eiland. Dit gebeurde in het jaar 1499 toen de Spaanse Alonso de Ojeda en Italiaanse Amerigo Vespucci voor het eerst op het eiland kwamen. Tijdens deze dag worden diverse festiviteiten georganiseerd, waaronder officiële ceremonies, culturele optredens en lokale markten. De vieringen benadrukken de rijke cultuur en geschiedenis van Bonaire en brengen de gemeenschap samen in een sfeer van trots en eenheid.
De viering heeft ieder jaar een bepaald thema, zo was het thema van 2024 ‘Boneiru limpi, nos deber, nos orguyo’ / ‘Een schoon Bonaire. Onze plicht, onze trots’. Het thema voor 2025 is nog niet bekend.

Hoewel Koningsdag zijn oorsprong vindt in Nederland, krijgt het in het Caribisch gebied een unieke invulling met een mix van Nederlandse koninklijke tradities en lokale Caribische cultuur.
De festiviteiten vinden plaats op Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba, en bestaan uit officiële ceremonies, culturele optredens, sporttoernooien, straatfeesten en livemuziek. Op de BES-eilanden (Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba) is Koningsdag een officiële feestdag en wordt het gevierd met parades, gemeenschapsevenementen en sociale bijeenkomsten. Ook in de autonome landen Aruba, Curaçao en Sint Maarten wordt de dag uitgebreid gevierd.
Koningsdag in het Caribisch gebied draait niet alleen om de viering van de monarchie, maar is ook een moment van gemeenschapsgevoel, nationale trots en culturele expressie, waarmee de veelzijdige identiteit van de eilanden binnen het Koninkrijk wordt benadrukt.

Statia Day is the national holiday of Sint Eustatius, celebrated annually on November 16. Saba Carnival is an annual cultural celebration held on the island of Saba, part of the Caribbean Netherlands. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and deep cultural significance, Saba Carnival typically spans several days, with festivities beginning in late July and continuing through early August. It is an important event for the local community, drawing both residents and visitors together to celebrate the island’s rich cultural heritage.
The carnival is marked by colorful parades, music, dancing, and costume competitions, which reflect Saba’s Afro-Caribbean roots and diverse cultural influences. The celebration includes a mix of traditional and contemporary elements, showcasing local talent and providing a platform for community expression.
Although small in scale compared to other Caribbean carnivals, Saba Carnival plays a central role in the island’s social and cultural life, offering a unique glimpse into the traditions that continue to shape Saba’s identity.
In 2025 Saba Carnival will take place from the 28th of July ’till the 3rd of August.
