Monumento Habri ’22 (Open Monument Day ’22) will take place in Otrobanda’s Reef Area. Reef (Rif) is located between Breedestraat and Pater Euwensweg and roughly east of the (former) St. Elisabeth Hospital and west of the Juliana Bridge ramp, the Arubastraat.

Fundashon Pro Monumento organizes the 2017 edition of Monumento Habrí (Open Monumentday). The year 2017 is special because in December it will be twenty years ago that Willemstad has been placed on Unesco’s World Heritage List. This year’s Monumento Habrí will take place in Punda.
Ser'i Otrobanda
This is the 2004 edition of the brochures published by the Pro Monument Foundation (ProMo) whenever a Monumento Habrí (Open Monumentday) is organized. Nearly all te historic buildings that are opened to the public on the occasion of Monumento Habrí 2004, have been built on the former hinterland of the Westwerf. These grounds, which were hardly built on round 1860, stretched westward from the St. Anna Bay, and were situated to the north of the present Frederikstraat.

De Monumento habrí ’95 zal plaatsvinden in de Hoogstraat en het L.B Smithplein te Otrobanda.
Pietermaai Smal
The premises that will be open to the public on the occasion of ‘Monumento Habrí’ (Open Monument Day), for the greater part are situated on the isthmus that in those days connected Willemstad with the rest of the island. Here ‘Pietermaai Smal’ (Narrow Pietermaai) originated in the 18th and 19th century. The area in which the houses are opened rund from the Theaterstraat up to and including the Johan van Walbeeckplein.

en geschiedenis van deze gebieden. De inhoud van de boeken is erop gericht om de kennis over het eiland bij
de bewoner te verhogen (Konosé bo isla) en de bezoeker meer te leren over Curaçao.
De serie wordt in het Papiamentu, Nederlands en Engels ontwikkeld.
Caracasbaai

In het boek ‘Monument Bonaire’ staan zes verschillende bouwstijlen, over een bouwperiode die loopt tot ongeveer 1970. Een relatief grote groep gebouwen uit die periode past niet in één van deze zes bouwstijlen. Of ze dragen niet meer de kenmerken. Deze gebouwen worden samengevoegd tot een aparte groep die ‘gecombineerde bouwstijlen’, of ‘verbouwd’ wordt genoemd. In dit artikel uit het Antilliaans Dagblad (28 november 2024) vertelt Wilna Groenenboom over deze uitzonderlijke bouwstijl op Bonaire.
In de studie ‘Architektuur en Bouwwijze van het Curaçaose landhuis’ worden alle bouwmaterialen, zowel lokale als geïmporteerde, die vroeger op het eiland werden toegepast, behandeld. Aan de hand van een groot aantal voorbeelden wordt vervolgens een gedetailleerd beeld gegeven van de architektuurontwikkeling van het Curaçaose landhuis vanaf omstreeks 1700 tot 1900.
Nieuw boek over de moderne architectuur op Curaçao
In het artikel vertelt Newton hoe het boek de erfenis in kaart breng van twee verschillende, maar onderling verbonden internationale bouwstijlen die in het begin 20e eeuw opkwamen: De ‘Moderne Beweging’ en ‘Art Deco’. Het boek focust op 25 gebouwen die in deze periode zijn ontworpen door lokale en Nederlandse architecten.

Met de gekleurde bouwwerken als uitgangspunt mengt Maurice zich in de bevolking en komt hij meer te weten over waarom er op Curaçao zoveel verschillende culturen bij elkaar leven.
De ontwikkeling van de monumentenzorg op Curaçao
Golvende gevels, statige zuilen, kleurrijke tegels en zwierige trappen: de huizen van Curaçao geven het eiland een heel eigen karakter. De binnenstad van Willemstad is inmiddels zelfs uitgeroepen tot Unesco Werelderfgoed. Sommige historische panden zijn kolossaal, andere staan onopvallend in kleine achterafsteegjes. Maar allemaal hebben ze hun eigen charme en hun eigen geschiedenis. Zonder Stichting Monumentenzorg Curaçao was een groot deel van dit culturele erfgoed onder de sloophamer vermorzeld.
Sinds 1954 strijdt deze stichting met succes voor behoud en restauratie van Curaçaose monumenten.
In dit boek verweeft journaliste Jeannette van Ditzhuijzen de geschiedenis van de Stichting Monumentenzorg Curaçao met de historie van enkele van de ruim honderd monumenten die de stichting inmiddels bezit. Zo laat zij zien dat het bij de zorg voor monumenten niet alleen gaat om het conserveren van de stenen, maar ook om het behoud van de geschiedenis die er onlosmakelijk mee is verbonden.
