The Saba Conservation Foundation (SCF) is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization, established in 1987, dedicated to the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage of the Caribbean island of Saba (part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands).
As the island’s designated conservation agency, SCF manages several protected areas, including the Saba National Marine Park, surrounding the island and safeguarding its coral reefs and marine biodiversity. On land, SCF also oversees the island’s network of walking- and hiking-trails (the Saba Trail Network) and other nature reserves or conservation zones. Beyond managing protected areas, SCF acts as an advisory body to the island government on environmental policy and sustainable development. In this way SCF helps to ensure that nature, tourism, fisheries, and community well-being remain balanced and mutually supportive.
‘We believe that a stronger island economy will result from the sustainable use of Saba’s rich and virtually unspoiled resources.’ – SCF
