‘De Aprilmoorden’ is een reconstructie van een vergeten oorlogsdrama op Curaçao. Op 20 april 1942 werden vijftien Chinese arbeiders, die als stokers op olietankers van Shell werkten, door politie en bewakers van de olieraffinaderij doodgeschoten tijdens een staking voor betere arbeidsomstandigheden.
