De huidige Bonairiaanse coalitiepartijen hebben het amandement afgewezen dat ervoor zou zorgen dat Fundashon Históriko Kultural Boneiriano (FuHiKuBo) de nodige financiële middelen toegekend zou krijgen. Met het wegstemmen van deze aanvulling komt het voortbestaan van de belangrijkste erfgoedinstelling van Bonaire direct in gevaar.
Momenteel staat ‘kadushi’ nog niet op de immaterieel erfgoed lijst van Unesco, waar het gaat om gastronomie. Voor een nominatie van immaterieel cultureel erfgoed moet een uitgebreid proces doorlopen worden.

Two historic burial grounds on Sint Eustatius, Golden Rock and Godet, have gained UNESCO recognition for their significant connection to the island’s slavery heritage. Discovered during airport expansion in 2021, the Golden Rock site sparked controversy, because of how the remains of enslaved Africans were handled. With a ceremony in Paris and a series of local events planned, the island is stepping into the global spotlight. These burial sites are becoming part of UNESCO’s “Routes of Enslaved Peoples” program.
