Stichting Monumentenzorg Curaçao is the initiator of Herens/cia | Erfgoed | Heritage based on the conviction that information about the heritage of the CAS and BES islands should be easy to find and accessible. Project management and overhead costs are financed by the foundation.

The Mondriaan Fund makes it possible to further develop, supplement and make the website available in Papiamentu/o and English and to prepare it for promotion to a wide audience.

UNESCO, through its Participation Programme — a fund that supports cultural and educational projects worldwide — has contributed to the realization of this project. Their support allows us to fill the website with information and educational resources on the heritage of the Dutch Caribbean, allowing us to further develop our work in cultural education and community participation as the project grows.

In 2023 the Vertegenwoordiging van Nederland in Aruba, Curaçao & St. Maarten organized a Prinsjesdag Challenge for high school students. The students of the Albert Schweitzer College won this challenge by developing an ecologically responsible plan for the Isla site. As part of the prize, the Representation made a donation available, with the students being allowed to choose a good cause themselves. They chose Stichting Monumentenzorg Curaçao, which used the amount to develop the website dutchcaribbeanheritage.org, aimed at making educational material about heritage accessible.
