The Sint Maarten National Heritage Foundation, is a non- profit organization that was established on October 4, 1993 as the result of a merger between the St. Maarten National Park Foundation and the St Maarten Museum Foundation.
The Sint Maarten National Heritage Museum, managed by the Sint Maarten National Heritage Foundation, is dedicated to promoting, protecting, and studying every aspect of the island’s history, culture, and natural environment.
The organization aims to achieve these objectives by:
– Letting visitors explore St. Maarten’s rich history and culture by visiting our Museum – Collecting books, videos, other publications for our reference library, which can be used for personal or educational purposes – Affiliations with other like minded organizations – Giving schools the opportunity to organize field trips to the Museum and historical sites – Organizing tours to sites of historic significance

Hoog op een heuvel in de bijzondere natuur en tijdloze setting van het gebied Rincon staat een groot wit gebouw. De ‘Mangazina di Rei’ (opslagplaats van de Koning) werd in de negentiende eeuw door de Nederlandse overheid gebruikt om rantsoenen op te slaan voor de gouvernementsslaven. Ook had het een rol van betekenis in het gebied dat toendertijd de landstuinen ten Oosten genoemd werd.
Tegenwoordig wordt de opslagplaats gebruikt om de culturele rijkdom van Bonaire te bewaren voor huidige en toekomstige generaties voor doeleinden van studie, educatie en plezier. Mangazina di Rei speelt een belangrijke rol als cultuurpark waar ouderen en jongeren samenwerken om het erfgoed van Bonaire levend te houden. High on a hill, in the timeless setting of the area of Rincon and surrounded by beautiful nature stands a large white building. The ‘Mangazina di Rei’ (The King’s Repository) was used by the Dutch government in the nineteenth century to store rations for government slaves. It also played a significant role in the area, which -at that time- was called the National Gardens to the East.
Today, the Repository is used to preserve Bonaire’s cultural wealth for present and future generations. Its purpose is one of study, education, and enjoyment. Have a look at the website to see what cultural activities and trajectories Mangazina di Rei has to offer.
En lo alto de una colina en Rincón, donde no transcurre el tiempo, y rodeado de hermosa naturaleza, se alza un gran edificio blanco. ‘Mangazina di Rei’ (El Almacén del Rey) fue utilizado por el gobierno holandés en el siglo XIX para almacenar raciones de los esclavos del gobierno. También jugó un papel importante en el área, que -en ese momento- se llamó “Los Jardines Nacionales del Este”.
Hoy en día, el almacén se utiliza para preservar la riqueza cultural de Bonaire para presentes y futuras generaciones. Su propósito es de estudio, educación y disfrute.
Dit unieke museum, het oudste nog bestaande museum op Curaçao, is gehuisvest in een prachtig architectonisch monumentaal pand uit 1853. De getoonde collectie kunst en nijverheid, bestaat uit meubilair, glas en textiel. De voorwerpen dateren uit de 18de, 19de en vroeg 20ste eeuw.
Dit allemaal in combinatie met verschillende afwisselende tentoonstellingen, zowel boven in het Museum in de Meester zaal, de West Indie zaal alsook in het Souterrain en de SNIP Gallery.

This unique museum, the oldest still-existing museum on Curaçao, is housed in a beautiful architectural monument from 1853. The displayed collection of art and craftsmanship includes furniture, glass, and textiles. The objects date back to the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries.
All this is combined with various rotating exhibitions, located upstairs in the Master Room, the West Indies Room, as well as in the Souterrain and the SNIP Gallery.
For some years now photographer Sinaya Wolfert (1964) has been focussing on visualizing the positive developments in the social and cultural areas on Curaçao.
Her Curaçao roots have certainly played an important role in her choice of this theme and her attempt to depict the religions, rituals, and traditions of the island.
In her photo’s Sinaya Wolfert tries to make the invisible visible; improve the mutual understanding among the various religious communities. But she also tries to visualize the strength of faith and its importance for mankind. Some images tell a story hardly known among the local population, but which for centuries has been preserved in the Curaçao culture.
Sinaya’s autonomous projects are reflected in her photo’s. This photo book Curaçao Religions, Rituals and Traditions presents a picture of the hidden world of “Religious Curaçao”, where the various religions still co-exist peacefully.

Dia di Monumento Habrí 1997 lo tuma lugá den Otrobanda Abou, esta e hanchinan ku ta keda entre Breedestraat i Pater Euwensweg, miéntras ku banda pariba Aruba-straat i subida i bahada di brùg ta e limite; pa loke ta banda pabou nos ta haña Hòspital St. Elisabeth. Na hulandes ta papia di ‘Stegengebied’.
Nederlands – De Fundashon Pro Monumento (ProMo) is een in 1993 opgerichte onafhankelijke stichting die zich ten doel stelt op te komen voor het behoud van en de zorg voor de historische bebouwing op Curaçao. De bevolking van nabij kennis laten maken met de monumenten is één van de middelen voor het bereiken van het gestelde oel. ProMo organiseert dit jaar voor de derde keer een ‘Monumento Habrí’.
De Monumento Habrí zal plaatsvinden in het Stegengebied in Otrobanda. In het zuidwestelijke deel van deze oude wijk worden op zondag 18 mei 1997 tussen 10.00 uur en 18.00 uur circa 30 panden door de eigenaren en bewoners opengesteld voor publiek.
