Washington Slagbaai National Park is a natural park located on the northwest coast of Bonaire, part of the Caribbean Netherlands. History
After the demise of the WIC in 1791, Plantation Slagbaai became the property of the Dutch government. The four yellow buildings at Boka Slagbaai can still be visited as well as the older plantation house and other built heritage. In 1920 the northern part of the plantation was sold to two American brothers and got the name ‘Washington’. The buildings they constructed now house the entrance to the park, as well as a small natural history museum. At one point the plantation exported salt, charcoal, and as many as 3000 goats a year to Curaçao.

Un otro meta esensial ta manejo i renovashon di Museo Chich’i Tan na Rincon, kaminda kada luna nan tin eventonan ku ta honra artistanan di Boneiru. E fundashon tambe ta stimulá interkambio kultutal, por ehempel ku Hulanda durante Dia di Bandera di Boneiru.
Stichting voor Kunst en Cultuur van Bonaire richt zich op het promoten en behouden van de kunst, muziek en het culturele erfgoed van Bonaire. De stichting speelt een belangrijke rol in educatie en training door onder andere zang- en muzieklessen aan te bieden voor kinderen van 8 tot 14 jaar bij het Sentro Tuturutu. Daarnaast organiseert de stichting culturele evenementen, zoals DuoFest, dat lokale zangers en componisten in de schijnwerpers zet. Een ander belangrijk doel is het beheren en renoveren van Museo Chich’i Tan in Rincon, waar maandelijks evenementen worden gehouden ter ere van Bonaireaanse artiesten. De stichting bevordert ook culturele uitwisseling, bijvoorbeeld met Nederland tijdens Bonaire’s Vlaggendag.
The Bonaire Art & Culture Foundation promotes and preserves Bonaire’s art, music, and cultural heritage. The foundation plays an important role in education and training by offering singing and music lessons for children aged 8 to 14 at the Sentro Tuturutu. In addition, the foundation organizes cultural events such as DuoFest, which highlights local singers and composers. Another key goal is managing and renovating Museo Chich’i Tan in Rincon, where monthly events are held to honor Bonairean artists. The foundation also fosters cultural exchange, for example, with the Netherlands during Bonaire’s Flag Day.

Museum Kurá Hulanda is een antropologisch museum in Willemstad, Curaçao, dat de culturele en historische ontwikkeling van het eiland en de bredere regio belicht. The Les Fruits de Mer association invites the public to the festive launch of a new coloring book, Soualiga Colors. The free launch event will take place from 9am to noon this Saturday, February 15th at Amuseum Naturalis at The Old House in French Quarter. The new book celebrates the rich colors found in St. Martin’s plant and animal life. It will be given away for free at the launch. The event will also feature a coloring station, and a craft station where kids and adults can decorate colorful wooden bookmarks to take home.
Soualiga Colors helps kids learn the names for colors while highlighting the spectacular colors of our local nature. An image guide on the back cover has bright photos of all the featured plants and animals. Inside, kids will find two coloring pages for each color name. Each one has a local plant or animal of that color, with the color name in all four languages. Each coloring page is also paired with a page where they can practice writing the color names.

Stichting Museo Tula nodigt u uit voor een conferentie met de titel:
‘Het tweede decennium voor mensen van Afrikaanse afkomst.’
De Verenigde Naties sloten het eerste decennium voor mensen van Afrikaanse afkomst in december 2024 af. Nu moet er een programma worden opgesteld voor het nieuwe decennium onder toezicht van de Verenigde Naties. Het is belangrijk dat u en uw organisatie ook deel uitmaken van de verkenning hoe we samen een decolonisatieprogramma kunnen creëren voor ons hier op Curaçao. Dit zal de eerste conferentie zijn van een reeks van drie. Stichting Museo Tula voelt zich vereerd met het bezoek van dr. June Soomer, voorzitter van de Permanente Commissie voor het Tweede Decennium voor Mensen van Afrikaanse Afkomst. Dr. Soomer, voormalig ambassadeur van St. Lucia bij Caricom, zal de hoofdspreker zijn en de kaders schetsen zodat wij ons eigen programma kunnen ontwikkelen.
