The Vigilansia di Herensia K\u00f2rsou (Heritage Guard Cura\u00e7ao) Project aims to actively involve volunteers in the management of the archaeological heritage. By training them to use a mobile application and deploying them as a Wardad\u00f3 di Herensia or Heritage Guardian, the project seeks to empower volunteers to contribute significantly to heritage monitoring and conservation. The heritage data collected will be used for monitoring and conservation purposes.
\nThe reason for this project is because Cura\u00e7ao\u2019s archaeological heritage is at risk. In recent years, (illegal) land activities have been increasing, resulting in irreparable damage to archaeological sites. Mobilizing hikers and divers is therefore a crucial and sustainable approach to monitor the archaeological heritage of the island, preserving its unique legacy.<\/p>\n
