English – In front of you lies the 8th edition of the brochures published by the Pro Monumento Foundation (ProMo) whenever a Monumento Habrí (Open Monument Day) is organized. As is customary, a very fascinating and especially sensational walking route has been outlined for visitors. A walking route with extensive descriptions of the architecture, the history of the neighborhood, and the buildings purposely opened to the public. For this dr. Fosca Bosch- Kruimel has investigated the archives. She also wrote the text for this brochure. The Monumento Habrí again has a festive nature because this year Willemstad has been ten years on the World Heritage List of UNESCO.

The premises that will be open to the public on the occasion of ‘Monumento Habrí’ (Open Monument Day), for the greater part are situated on the isthmus that in those days connected Willemstad with the rest of the island. Here ‘Pietermaai Smal’ (Narrow Pietermaai) originated in the 18th and 19th centuries.
